PM Modi Advocates for Unified Action Against Terrorism at SCO Summit

Bishkek, Sep 1: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the need to dismantle the entire framework supporting terrorism, which includes financing, recruitment, radicalization, and safe havens.
During the 26th Meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) held in Bishkek, Kyrgyzstan, PM Modi stated, "We must unite in our stance that double standards regarding terrorism are unacceptable."
He outlined India's vision for the SCO, which is built on three foundational pillars: Security, Connectivity, and Opportunity. He remarked, "For India, the SCO represents a meeting point of diverse civilizations, cultures, and ideas."
Reaffirming India's belief in resolving conflicts through dialogue rather than warfare, PM Modi asserted, "There is no resolution on the battlefield; all disputes must be settled through conversation and diplomacy."
He expressed India's commitment to supporting initiatives that enhance market connections, promote trade, and create new avenues for development, while ensuring that these efforts honor the sovereignty and territorial integrity of all nations.
The Prime Minister called on SCO members to prioritize people-to-people connections in their collaborative efforts over the next quarter-century. He also highlighted India's initiatives within the SCO, such as the Start-up Forum, Young Authors' Conclave, and Young Scientists' Forum.
"Last year, India introduced the SCO Civilisational Dialogue Forum, and I am delighted that its inaugural session will take place in India this year," PM Modi added.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi participated in a group photo with fellow leaders at the 26th SCO Summit in Bishkek.
The SCO consists of ten member countries: Belarus, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, China, Kyrgyzstan, Pakistan, Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan. Additionally, it has two observer states, Azerbaijan and Armenia, along with 15 dialogue partners including Egypt, Cambodia, Qatar, Kuwait, Laos, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, UAE, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, and Sri Lanka.
