New Delhi, Jul 21: On Tuesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized the government's decisive actions against individuals implicated in the NEET paper leak, asserting that no one should jeopardize the future of young students. He urged for a collaborative effort between the central and state governments to combat examination fraud.
During a gathering of National Democratic Alliance (NDA) MPs known as Mangal Milan, Modi confirmed that those involved in the paper leak scandal had been apprehended and are now facing legal consequences.
He advocated for the harshest penalties for those accountable to deter future occurrences of such incidents.
Union Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju, who spoke to the media following the hour-long meeting, reported that the Prime Minister acted swiftly upon receiving news of the leak, resulting in the arrest of 13 suspects.
Rijiju quoted Modi, stating, "Strong action has been taken to ensure that no one plays with the future of youth."
Furthermore, he mentioned that Modi highlighted the government's commitment to protecting students' academic interests by prioritizing the NEET re-examination, which was executed successfully, with results announced promptly.
"To ensure that students' futures remain unaffected, the NEET re-examination was prioritized, conducted successfully, and results were declared without delay," Rijiju added.
The Prime Minister also pointed out that measures have been established to avert similar incidents in the future and called for bipartisan collaboration to tackle paper leak schemes.
"To prevent future paper leaks, all state governments and the Centre must unite, regardless of political affiliation. This transcends party politics and is a matter of national interest," Rijiju conveyed from Modi's remarks.
Additionally, Modi informed the NDA MPs that the government would seek the most stringent legal actions against those involved, with the backing of the nation's leading lawyers, to ensure that offenders receive exemplary punishment.
These comments from the Prime Minister followed a significant protest where thousands of students, led by the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP), marched to Parliament under the "Sansad Chalo" banner, demanding accountability for alleged NEET examination irregularities and calling for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
