A plane crash occurred early Thursday morning in a residential area of San Diego, leading to a significant fire outbreak. Officials reported that a Cessna 550 went down in foggy weather, igniting flames that affected approximately 15 homes and prompted evacuations across several blocks.
Emergency responders were dispatched to the crash site located near Sculpin Street and Santo Road shortly after an emergency alert was received at 3:47 AM local time. The San Diego Fire-Rescue team arrived within six minutes of the alert. Assistant Fire Chief Dan Eddy informed the media, stating, “We have jet fuel all over the place. Our primary objective is to search all these homes and ensure everyone is evacuated immediately.”
