Piyush Goyal Highlights Global Trade Challenges and India's Economic Resilience

Union Minister Piyush Goyal recently addressed the indirect impacts of global conflicts on India's economy during the launch of a CSR initiative. He called for national unity to face current challenges and highlighted India's progress in trade agreements with developed nations. Goyal emphasized the opportunities available for Indian farmers and artisans in global markets and concluded by stressing the importance of empowering youth to achieve a developed India by 2047. Impact of Global Conflicts on India's Economy

On Wednesday, Piyush Goyal, the Union Minister for Commerce and Industry, emphasized the indirect effects of ongoing global conflicts on India's trade and economy. Speaking at the launch of the Malabar Gold and Diamonds' national CSR initiative for 2026-27 in New Delhi, Goyal pointed out that while India is not directly involved in the war, it inevitably faces indirect repercussions. He stated during the event at the Dr. Ambedkar International Center that despite India's non-involvement, the ramifications of such a significant conflict are unavoidable, leading to various challenges.


Call for National Unity Amid Global Challenges

The minister urged for national unity to tackle current global challenges, asserting that this is a crucial time for the nation to come together. He highlighted the role of responsible jewelers in this context. Goyal also shed light on India's advancements in trade diplomacy, revealing that the country has established free trade agreements (FTAs) with 38 developed nations. He noted that these agreements include nine FTAs with some of the wealthiest countries in the world, providing India with preferential market access, which translates to lower or zero tariffs in these markets.


Opportunities for Indian Farmers and Artisans

Goyal elaborated that two-thirds of global trade is now accessible to Indian farmers, artisans, and businesses with minimal or no tariffs, creating significant expansion opportunities. He mentioned that Indian farmers, fishermen, small and medium enterprises, and artisans in handicrafts and handlooms have access to two-thirds of the world's markets. However, he stressed that focusing on quality within India is essential for delivering high-quality services.


Empowering Youth for a Developed India by 2047

In concluding his address, Goyal highlighted the importance of nurturing the capabilities of India's youth to achieve the goal of a developed India by 2047. He expressed that the more support given to children's abilities, the faster India will progress towards its developmental objectives.
