Piyush Goyal Explores Trade Opportunities in Switzerland

New Delhi, June 10: Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal shared that he engaged in meaningful discussions with prominent business figures in Switzerland regarding promising trade and investment opportunities between the two nations.
In a post on the social media platform X, Goyal expressed that he had an enriching evening with Indian business representatives.
He mentioned, “Engaged in fruitful discussions about exciting prospects, partnerships, and new pathways for trade and investment between India and Switzerland, stemming from the India-EFTA Trade and Economic Partnership Agreement.”
Goyal began his official visit to Switzerland on Monday, which is part of a five-day itinerary that includes a trip to Sweden aimed at bolstering trade relations.
He remarked, “Today was a delightful experience visiting the Swiss Parliament and meeting my friend @ParmelinG, the Swiss Federal Councillor. I had the chance to admire some exquisite lithograph artworks, titled Cortège, created by the famous Swiss-French architect Le Corbusier during his time in Chandigarh in 1960.”
Additionally, he met with the Chairman and Committee Members of the newly formed ICAI Switzerland Zurich Chapter.
Goyal stated, “We had an in-depth discussion on promoting India's fintech capabilities and exploring collaboration opportunities in the BFSI (Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance) sector, particularly within the innovative startup ecosystem.”
He also interacted with CEOs from Swiss SMEs in precision engineering, machine tools, and advanced manufacturing, emphasizing India's robust manufacturing landscape and potential as a regional hub for global markets.
During a series of sector-specific meetings, he connected with leaders from various Swiss pharmaceutical and life sciences firms that are keen on investing in India.
Goyal noted, “I had an engaging discussion regarding their vision and growth strategies. It was encouraging to hear their recognition of India's growth potential, innovation ecosystem, and the success of the 'Make in India' initiative.”
This visit represents a significant step in strengthening India's ties with two of Europe's most innovative economies. Goyal's meetings aim to foster impactful interactions with senior government officials, industry leaders, and business associations in both nations.
