Allegations Against the DMK Government

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal has accused the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) government of corruption and nepotism as Tamil Nadu approaches its assembly elections. Speaking to reporters during his visit to Ooty, Goyal expressed confidence that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) would form the next government on May 4. He described the corruption associated with the Stalin family as pervasive, claiming it is characterized by scandals involving alcohol and land dealings.

Concerns Over Corruption

Goyal further asserted that bribery has become rampant in the state, stating that young people seeking government jobs in Tamil Nadu are often required to pay bribes. He emphasized that the public will not accept anyone who is anti-Tamil culture, anti-Tamil women, and promotes corruption. He rejected the notion of Udhayanidhi Stalin as a potential chief ministerial candidate for the DMK.

Criticism of Chief Minister MK Stalin

In his critique of Chief Minister MK Stalin, Goyal claimed that Udhayanidhi Stalin's appointment as Deputy Chief Minister exemplifies dynastic politics. He argued that this family-centric governance is rife with corruption and mismanagement, and it must come to an end. The NDA, led by the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), BJP, PMK, AMMK, and other allies, is committed to serving the public like a family.

Confidence in Election Results

Expressing optimism about the election outcome, Goyal stated that victory is assured. He believes that the electorate will not forget the DMK's misgovernance and corruption. Upon arriving in Ooty, Goyal's helicopter underwent a routine security check by election officials at the helipad, which revealed no cash or valuables. Sources indicate that Goyal met with industry representatives, community leaders, small tea farmers, and factory owners in support of BJP candidate Bhojarajan from the Udupi assembly constituency. Party leaders and coalition members welcomed him at the helipad.
