Arrest of Deputy Raises Questions in Missing Person Case

A deputy from the Pima County Sheriff's Department has been taken into custody on kidnapping allegations as the search for Nancy Guthrie, the 84-year-old mother of Savannah Guthrie, continues. Guthrie was reported missing on February 1. Authorities believe she was abducted from her residence in the Catalina Foothills area near Tucson the night before. Over a month later, no suspects have been identified, and she remains unaccounted for. The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) is aiding in the search efforts.

The arrest of Deputy Travis Reynolds has garnered attention due to his department's involvement in the high-profile case. However, officials have clarified that the charges against him are unrelated to the Guthrie investigation. Reports indicate that Reynolds is accused of unlawfully detaining a woman in a department vehicle before transporting her to the county jail. The 22-year-old deputy is currently held on a $200,000 bond and has been terminated from his position following his arrest by the Tucson Police Department.

The allegations stem from an incident on March 19, during which Reynolds reportedly described the woman as "hot" and a "MILF." Upon arriving at the jail, he allegedly manipulated the woman's hands from behind her back to the front and entered the vehicle. Furthermore, he is accused of sharing a vape pen with her and suggesting they could engage in sexual activities at a hotel. Reports also claim he showed her explicit videos of a man believed to be Reynolds. After she exited the vehicle, he allegedly requested her to lift her shirt.

Despite the lack of evidence linking Reynolds to Nancy Guthrie's disappearance, his arrest has sparked speculation on social media. Some users have noted a resemblance between him and a masked figure seen in surveillance footage from Guthrie’s home. Comments such as "Why does he look familiar????????" and concerns about his potential connection to the case have surfaced. Authorities have yet to provide any evidence tying Reynolds to the ongoing investigation into Guthrie’s disappearance.
