Pawan Singh Stays Away from Political Commentary Amid Bihar Elections

Bhojpuri singer and BJP member Pawan Singh has declared his intention to avoid political commentary, identifying himself as an artist and a representative of the people of Bihar. His remarks come in the wake of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi's traditional fishing activities as part of his campaign for the upcoming Bihar assembly elections. Singh highlighted the significant development in Bihar over the past fifteen years and expressed his continued support for the BJP, despite previous expulsion due to anti-party activities. As the election campaign intensifies, Singh's focus remains on his artistic identity rather than political affiliations.

Pawan Singh's Stance on Politics

On Sunday, Bhojpuri singer and actor Pawan Singh, who is also a member of the BJP, expressed his preference to steer clear of political discussions. He emphasized his identity as an artist and referred to himself as 'the son of the people of Bihar,' rather than a politician. Reflecting on the progress of Bihar over the past fifteen years, Singh noted a 'clear difference' in development between then and now. His remarks followed Congress MP Rahul Gandhi's participation in traditional fishing activities with local fishermen, as part of his campaign ahead of the two-phase assembly elections starting on November 6. Gandhi jumped into a pond to engage in fishing using traditional methods, showcasing his connection with the community.

While addressing reporters about Rahul Gandhi's involvement in fishing at Chapariya Pokhar, Singh remarked, 'Let him do what he wants.' Distancing himself from making political comments about Tejashwi Yadav, Singh stated, 'I do not wish to comment on anyone (Tejashwi Yadav). I am an artist, not a politician. I am a brother and son of the people. I have received immense blessings. The public is wise and stands with development. Everything is evident; every village is illuminated with electricity.'

Pawan Singh, who was expelled from the BJP due to anti-party activities after announcing his independent candidacy for the Karakat Lok Sabha seat in 2024, continues to support the party leadership. Recently, he rejoined the BJP and is actively participating in election campaigning across the state. Voting for the 243-seat Bihar Assembly will take place in two phases on November 6 and November 11, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 14. His comments come at a time when the election campaign is intensifying, with numerous star campaigners from both the NDA and the opposition Grand Alliance traversing the state.
