Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway Faces Severe Deterioration Ahead of Manimahesh Mela

Critical Condition of Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway

Chamba: The condition of the Pathankot-Bharmour National Highway in the Chamba district has significantly worsened, especially between Bagga and Bharmour. Following heavy rains that caused landslides in various areas months ago, no remedial actions have been taken by the authorities. With the Manimahesh Mela approaching in the next few months, the road's poor state raises serious concerns for those traveling.

A previous landslide at Batti Hatti resulted in the collapse of a retaining wall, yet no repairs have been initiated. The area is now facing new landslides, which present a significant danger to travelers. Desh Raj Sharma, a former village head, expressed frustration that numerous complaints to the National Highway Department have been ignored. He cautioned that a serious accident could happen at any moment, particularly since the Ravi River runs adjacent to the damaged section.

Sharma has reiterated his call for authorities to act swiftly and strengthen the retaining wall to avert further incidents. In response, NH Department Executive Engineer Meet Singh Thakur has promised that an inspection will take place soon, and appropriate measures will be implemented to address the situation.
