Cummins Penalized for Over Rate Violation

Pat Cummins, the captain of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH), has been penalized with a fine of Rs 12 lakhs due to his team's slow over rate during the 56th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 against the Gujarat Titans at the Narendra Modi Stadium. The IPL announced on Wednesday that this fine was imposed as it was the team's first infraction of the season under Article 2.22 of the IPL's Code of Conduct, which addresses minimum over-rate violations.


SRH Suffers Significant Loss

In this match, SRH faced a substantial defeat, losing by 82 runs. They were all out for just 86 runs while attempting to chase a target of 169. Cummins emerged as the top scorer for his team, contributing 19 runs off nine balls, including two sixes and a four.


For the Gujarat Titans, Kagiso Rabada and Jason Holder each took three wickets, while Prasidh Krishna claimed two. Rashid Khan and Mohammed Siraj also contributed with one wicket each.


Gujarat Titans' Strong Performance

Earlier in the match, the Gujarat Titans batted first and posted a total of 168/5, thanks to impressive half-centuries from Sai Sudharsan, who scored 61 runs off 44 balls, and Washington Sundar, who added 50 runs off 33 balls.
