Incident Overview


A section of a dargah located in the Nizamuddin area of Delhi, close to the Humayun’s Tomb complex, collapsed on Friday evening, according to reports.


The incident occurred at the Dargah Sharif Patte Shah, as reported by a local news outlet.


Rescue efforts are currently underway, with at least six individuals believed to be trapped beneath the rubble, while 11 others have been successfully rescued.



Teams from the National Disaster Response Force, along with police and fire brigade personnel, are actively engaged in rescue operations at the scene.


RK Patel, a Superintending Archaeologist with the Archaeological Survey of India, Delhi Circle, stated that the roof and a wall of a mosque adjacent to the boundary wall of Humayun’s Tomb had collapsed.


Patel clarified, “This structure is not part of the Tomb complex nor is it located on ASI-monitored property. However, the gates of the tomb were opened to assist with the rescue efforts.”
