Parliamentary Proceedings Resume

The Lok Sabha and Rajya Sabha will reconvene at 11 AM on Friday for the winter session, which commenced on Monday and is set to continue until December 19. On Thursday, the Lok Sabha faced disruptions, leading to multiple adjournments and an early conclusion of the day's proceedings. Meanwhile, the Rajya Sabha approved the Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which had been passed by the Lok Sabha just a day earlier.


The Central Excise (Amendment) Bill, 2025 proposes changes to the excise duties on tobacco and related products following the cessation of the GST compensation cess.



The government has listed 13 bills for consideration during this session, many of which have not been reviewed by the standing committee. Notable among these are the Jan Vishwas (Amendment) Bill, 2025; the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code (Amendment) Bill, 2025; the National Highways (Amendment) Bill, 2025; and the Nuclear Energy Bill, 2025, along with significant reforms in corporate governance, insurance, securities regulation, and higher education laws.
