Parliament's Monsoon Session Disrupted by Opposition Demands
Parliament Faces Continuous Disruptions
On Wednesday, the proceedings of the Parliament's monsoon session were interrupted for the third consecutive day due to repeated adjournments. Both houses have been suspended until tomorrow. The opposition remains steadfast in its demand for the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. While Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and JP Nadda expressed the government's readiness to discuss the NEET-UG paper leak and other issues, opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge insisted that a fair discussion in Parliament requires the resignation of Pradhan first. The Lok Sabha was adjourned for the day after two interruptions caused by uproar from opposition members.
Suspension of MP for Misconduct
Additionally, Trinamool Congress member Kalyan Banerjee was suspended from the Lok Sabha for the remainder of the session due to allegations of misconduct towards some female members. Kiren Rijiju stated in Parliament that the government is fully prepared to discuss the NEET question paper leak issue. He accused the Congress party of trying to evade discussions by making excuses. Rijiju emphasized that since the beginning of the monsoon session, the government has been open to discussing significant issues, including the NEET paper leak.
Opposition's Evasion of Discussion
Rijiju claimed that the opposition is avoiding discussions on this matter, thereby obstructing the proceedings of the house, which he deemed inappropriate. He reiterated that the government is committed to discussing topics related to the NEET exam for the future of the youth and students. It is the government's responsibility to present the steps taken to the nation.
Accusations Against the Opposition
During the ongoing deadlock in Parliament due to the opposition's protests regarding student movements related to the NEET paper leak, Rajya Sabha leader JP Nadda accused the opposition of undermining democratic values by disregarding parliamentary decorum. He pointed out that the behavior of the opposition coalition is highly irresponsible and reflects anti-democratic activities clearly visible in Parliament.
