Updates on Recent Islamic Summit

Additionally, the committee will receive updates from officials of the Ministry of External Affairs and the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology regarding the outcomes of the recent Islamic summit. The committee is chaired by Congress MP Shashi Tharoor.

Context of Rising Tensions in West Asia

This meeting comes in light of escalating tensions in West Asia. Iran's Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, was reported dead following joint military strikes by the U.S. and Israel on February 28. Iran has been targeting U.S. bases in several Gulf nations, leading to disruptions in international supply chains. The Strait of Hormuz, a crucial transit route for global energy supplies, has been nearly shut down by Iran.

New Leadership in Iran

Mojtaba Khamenei, the son of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has been appointed as the new Supreme Leader of the Islamic Republic. Meanwhile, Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz confirmed on Tuesday that Ali Larijani, the Secretary of Iran's Supreme National Security Council, was killed during overnight airstrikes in Tehran.

Continued Operations Against Iranian Leadership

Katz stated that Larijani and the Basij commander were eliminated last night, and they have descended into the depths of hell along with Khamenei, the mastermind behind the destruction, and all members of the wicked faction. The Prime Minister and I have instructed the [Israeli Defense Forces] to continue tracking down the leadership of the regime of terror and oppression in Iran.
