Parliament's Budget Session Scheduled to Begin on January 28, 2026

The Budget Session of Parliament is set to commence on January 28 and will run until April 2, as announced by the Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs, Kiren Rijiju, on Friday.
Rijiju shared on social media that the Hon’ble President of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, has sanctioned the summoning of both Houses for the Budget Session 2026, following the recommendation of the Government of India.
The initial phase of the session is expected to wrap up by February 13, after which Parliament will reconvene on March 9 and conclude on April 2.

This intermission will be utilized to assess the Budget proposals, during which discussions regarding the ministries’ grant requests will occur, finalizing the budgetary process.
Traditionally, the Union Budget for the fiscal year 2026-’27 is anticipated to be unveiled on February 1 by Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman. The Economic Survey is expected to be presented on January 30, according to reports.
It is important to note that the two Houses will not convene on January 29 due to the Beating Retreat ceremony.
