Parliamentary Committee Postpones Bill Adoption

New Delhi: The Joint Committee of Parliament, which is reviewing a Bill aimed at detaining Prime Ministers, Union Ministers, and Chief Ministers for 30 consecutive days under serious allegations, has decided to postpone the approval of its draft report.

This decision was made on Friday, as members expressed the need for further discussions, according to the committee chair, Aparajita Sarangi.

The committee, which is focused on the 130th Amendment Bill, had previously circulated a draft report containing five recommendations to its members.

During the voting process on these recommendations, it became clear that additional consultations with stakeholders and internal discussions among members were necessary.

AIMIM leader Asaduddin Owaisi and NCP MP Supriya Sule had initially submitted dissent notes but later retracted them following the committee's decision to delay the adoption.

Sarangi stated, "The joint Parliamentary committee unanimously agreed that further consultations with stakeholders are essential."
