Parliament Faces Turmoil Over Education Issues

On Wednesday, the Parliament witnessed significant uproar for the third consecutive day. Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, expressed his frustration over being denied the opportunity to speak regarding the NEET-UG paper leak and the actions taken against youth protests on July 20. Following the Lok Sabha Speaker's decision to allow Congress's K.C. Venugopal and Union Minister Kiren Rijiju to address the house, Akhilesh raised concerns about a potential agreement between the government and Congress.

As the Lok Sabha session commenced on Wednesday, opposition members created a ruckus demanding the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and a discussion on the NEET paper leak. Despite the proceedings being suspended, the Speaker, Om Birla, permitted members from both BJP and Congress to speak. Clearly agitated, Akhilesh quickly stood up to intervene, emphasizing that this issue transcends party lines, affecting students and youth directly.

Akhilesh Questions Government's Intentions

In a heated exchange, Akhilesh questioned, "You allowed them (Congress) and them (BJP) to speak. What about us? Has the government struck a deal?" He insisted on the need for the Education Minister's resignation and warned that if the concerns of students continued to be overlooked, they would take to the streets once more. On Tuesday, Akhilesh, along with opposition leader Rahul Gandhi and several other Congress leaders, was detained during an unexpected protest near Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence. The circumstances surrounding their arrival there are a story in themselves.

Akhilesh stated that the opposition had no other choice but to approach the Prime Minister's residence.
