Panic Erupts Over Fuel Shortage Rumors in Uttar Pradesh

Fuel Shortage Rumors Cause Chaos in Uttar Pradesh

In certain regions of Uttar Pradesh, chaos ensued at petrol stations as rumors of fuel shortages began circulating among residents. Long queues were observed at petrol pumps in areas such as Nighasan, Palia, and Bheera, as many rushed to purchase petrol and diesel, fearing supply disruptions due to ongoing conflicts in the Middle East. This situation led to temporary congestion at several petrol stations as drivers attempted to stock up on fuel. However, local officials clarified that there is no disruption in the supply of petroleum products in the district and urged residents not to believe unverified information.

Officials Dismiss Shortage Claims

The district supply officer, Anjani Kumar Singh, refuted these claims, stating that the reports of shortages are unfounded. Singh informed a news agency, "There are no credible rumors regarding a shortage of petrol, diesel, or LPG in Kheri district." He emphasized that there is a sufficient stock of fuel and LPG available, advising people to purchase only as per their regular needs. Singh also warned that any individual found hoarding petroleum products would face legal action. District Magistrate Durga Shakti Nagpal addressed the situation, appealing to residents to maintain calm and assuring them that the supply of petrol and diesel across the district remains normal.

Stable Supply Across the State

Meanwhile, representatives from local fuel and LPG distributors confirmed that the supply remains stable. Abhishek Dixit, the district president of the Kheri Petroleum Traders Association, stated that there is enough fuel available to meet consumer demand at the district's petrol pumps. Similarly, Arun Kumar Singh, the district president of the LPG distributors' association, assured that there is a sufficient stock of LPG and urged residents not to panic over rumors.

Government Assures Strong Supply in India

The government has also clarified that the supply of petroleum products in India is adequate, and alternative sources are being explored. Amid the escalating crisis in the Middle East, the United States has provided significant relief to India by allowing it to purchase oil from Russia.
