Legal Issues for Palash Muchhal

Renowned singer and composer Palash Muchhal has found himself embroiled in a serious legal dispute. A complaint has been filed against him in Sangli by Vijnan Mane, who claims to be a close friend of Indian women's cricket team vice-captain Smriti Mandhana. The allegations include the use of casteist slurs under the Prevention of Atrocities Act and serious charges of fraud amounting to several lakhs of rupees. This complaint was lodged months after Mandhana and Muchhal called off their wedding in December 2025. Following the complaint, the police have registered a case against Muchhal, and an investigation is currently underway.

Sources reveal that 34-year-old Mane, who is active in social and political circles in Sangli, alleges that Muchhal took ₹25 lakhs from him as an investment for a film titled 'Nazariya'. According to the complaint, Muchhal had also promised Mane a role in the film, with an agreement that the invested amount would be returned along with profits after the film's release. However, Mane claims that the film was never produced.

In his complaint, Mane stated that he repeatedly requested the return of his money, but Muchhal kept delaying the payment for days and months. Eventually, he alleged that Muchhal outright denied any outstanding dues. After several attempts to recover his money, Mane approached the Sangli police to file his complaint.

Mane further alleged that when he met Muchhal in person to demand his money, the singer used casteist slurs and behaved in an abusive manner, humiliating him regarding his caste identity. This incident reportedly took place on November 22, 2025, at a farmhouse in Sangli. The police confirmed that a case has been registered against 30-year-old Palash Rajkumar Muchhal, a resident of Lokhandwala in Mumbai, based on Mane's allegations of caste-based abuse and the use of obscene language.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Sandeep Bhagwat confirmed that the complaint has been officially registered and that further investigations are ongoing. The case centers around Mane's claims regarding the ₹25 lakhs investment related to 'Nazariya' and the alleged caste-based abuse that occurred during a meeting in Sangli.
