Palampur's Historic Holi Fair Kicks Off

Today marked the beginning of the traditional state-level historic Holi fair in Palampur, featuring a spectacular procession that infused the town with festive colors and cultural energy. The event was officially opened by Palampur MLA Ashish Butail.


The procession commenced at the PWD Rest House, traversing key routes before concluding at Gandhi Ground. Accompanied by the rhythmic sounds of drums, folk instruments, and vibrant floats, the procession highlighted the area's rich cultural legacy. Numerous social and cultural organizations, women's groups, youth clubs, self-help groups, and schoolchildren participated with great enthusiasm. Artists adorned in traditional Himachali costumes performed folk dances and songs, enchanting the audience. Residents greeted the procession with flower showers, enhancing the celebratory atmosphere.


At Gandhi Ground, a magnificent Maha Nati performance was staged, further elevating the festive mood.


During his speech, MLA Ashish Butail remarked that Holi transcends being just a festival of colors; it embodies love, brotherhood, and social unity. He underscored the significance of such fairs in safeguarding cultural heritage and ensuring its transmission to future generations. He encouraged the youth to cherish local traditions and actively engage in social progress.


Butail also commended the organizing committee and local administration, pointing out that events like these foster tourism and provide a platform for local artists and artisans. He urged everyone to uphold cleanliness and harmony throughout the festivities.


The opening ceremony was attended by numerous dignitaries, administrative officials, panchayat representatives, and local residents. Notable attendees included SDM and Fair Committee Chairman O.P. Yadav, Wool Federation Director Trilok Chand, Mayor Gopal Nag, Deputy Mayor Raj Kumar, along with departmental officers, councilors, trade union members, and townspeople.
