Logistical Chaos Before Crucial Match

Murad Jehan, the captain of the Pakistan volleyball team, has expressed his frustration with the organizers of the Asian Games 2026 in Japan after the team was mistakenly taken to the wrong location for their important match against Uzbekistan, causing significant disruption just an hour before the game.

On September 28, Pakistan secured a 3-0 victory over Uzbekistan in their second group stage match held at the Okazaki Chuo Sogo Park Gymnasium. Previously, they had triumphed over Kazakhstan with a score of 3-1, marking a strong start to their campaign at the Aichi-Nagoya Games.

Following their win against Uzbekistan, Jehan addressed the logistical issues that nearly jeopardized their match preparations.

Unexpected Venue Confusion

The Pakistan volleyball team's preparations were severely impacted when their bus was directed to an incorrect venue instead of the designated gymnasium. This error left the players with minimal time to get ready after finally arriving at the correct location.

In an Instagram video recorded during their journey to the actual venue, Murad Jehan voiced his disappointment over the disorganization, revealing that the team had to quickly change into their uniforms while still on the bus due to the time constraints.

He stated, "This is another instance of mismanagement by Japan at the ongoing Asian Games. We have a crucial game, and the bus driver was unaware of our destination gymnasium. We couldn't have anticipated this in Japan. There are numerous issues with food and transportation. This is not how the Asian Games should be organized."

Ongoing Complaints About Organization

Murad Jehan's remarks come amid growing concerns from athletes regarding the persistent logistical challenges faced by various teams at the Aichi-Nagoya Games. The absence of an athletes' village has led to participants being scattered across hotels, temporary container accommodations, and even a chartered cruise ship, resulting in transportation issues that have affected multiple delegations.

The official Games communication confirmed that the Pakistan men's volleyball match had to be delayed by 45 minutes due to the team's late arrival, which was caused by the bus driver mistakenly taking them to a different venue located an hour away from the intended gymnasium.

Match Delayed Due to Transport Issues

The official statement noted, "As a result, the team arrived late at the correct competition venue, and we were required to delay the match by 45 minutes."

Pakistan's volleyball team celebrated their second consecutive victory in the Asian Games with a solid 3-0 win over Uzbekistan.

In a similar vein, the South Korean basketball team encountered issues when their shuttle bus failed to arrive before their final match against Japan, causing them to miss an essential pre-game shooting session.
