Pakistan Army's False Claims Spark Online Mockery
Pakistan's Army Officer Makes Unfounded Claims
Islamabad: Pakistan has found itself the subject of ridicule once again after an army officer asserted that Islamabad targeted two non-existent Indian airbases last May. A video featuring the officer's claims has gone viral on social media. In retaliation to India's Operation Sindoor, Pakistan initiated Operation Bunyan Ul Marsoos, which aimed to breach Indian territory in Punjab, Rajasthan, Gujarat, and Jammu and Kashmir. On May 10, 2025, Pakistan launched its Fatah-1 missile aimed at Delhi, but it was intercepted and destroyed over Sirsa in Haryana. In the viral video, the officer confidently stated that their missiles struck the Rajouri and Mamun airbases, which, interestingly, do not exist.

In an interview, the officer, identified as Captain Muneeb Zamal, claimed, "We were assigned two targets, Rajouri Airbase and Mamun Airbase, and we successfully engaged them." He even mentioned that the presence of civilians during the missile launch boosted their confidence. Following the video's circulation, social media users mocked Pakistan and its military for boasting about non-existent achievements. Notably, during a media briefing, Pakistan Air Force officer Air Commodore Aurangzeb Ahmed also claimed that attacks were executed on the “Suratgarh Air Base in Jammu" and the “Sirsa Air Base in Rajasthan’s Suratgarh sector." However, fact-checkers quickly pointed out that the Suratgarh air base is located in Rajasthan, while Sirsa is in Haryana.
Netizens' Reactions:One social media user remarked, "I live in Jammu, and there is no such base in Rajouri. I have never heard of it; yes, there is an advanced air base, but it's not useful, of course, it's small, and these fluffers hit that." Another user humorously stated, "Archaeologists, cartographers, Google Maps, and the Indian Air Force have launched a joint mission to locate the legendary 'Rajouri airbase and Mamun airbase.' If anyone knows the geolocation, please send it to government officials."
Operation Sindoor:As part of Operation Sindoor, India conducted airstrikes on nine terrorist infrastructures in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir, resulting in the elimination of at least 100 terrorists. The strikes targeted various terror camps, including the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) headquarters in Bahawalpur and the Lashkar-e-Taiba's base in Muridke, among others.
This military action led to heightened tensions, with Pakistan launching retaliatory strikes on military and civilian sites, which were successfully thwarted by the Indian military. The hostilities concluded with an agreement to cease military actions on May 10, following discussions between army officials from both sides.
