Sindhu Joins BWF Council

P. V. Sindhu, an Olympic medalist and World Champion, has recently been elected as the Chair of the BWF Athletes' Commission, granting her a full voting position on the Badminton World Federation (BWF) Council. This significant step marks her entry into the global governance of badminton.


After successfully completing the necessary vetting process, Sindhu officially joined the BWF Council at the end of 2025. She made her inaugural appearance at the BWF Annual General Meeting held in Horsens, which signified the start of her influential role within the sport's governing body.

The BWF Council is pivotal in steering the strategic direction and governance of badminton on a global scale.
