Owaisi's Call to Voters in Ahmedabad

During a rally in Ahmedabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, criticized the BJP's stance on the Uniform Civil Code (UCC) and urged voters to reject the ruling party in the upcoming local elections. He argued that the proposed legislation poses a threat to the Islamic legal framework, known as Sharia, and appealed to voters to consider this when casting their ballots.

Concerns Over UCC Legislation

The Gujarat Assembly recently passed the UCC Bill, 2026, making it the second state to do so after Uttarakhand. Owaisi contended that this law would impose a uniform legal framework that could undermine Muslim practices related to marriage, divorce, and inheritance. He expressed his intention to legally challenge such laws. Reminding the audience of last year's terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Owaisi emphasized national security concerns and criticized Pakistan and Israel for promoting regional instability. He also encouraged the minority community to take on leadership roles to ensure their rights and representation on a national platform.

Support for DMK in Tamil Nadu Elections

Earlier, Asaduddin Owaisi appealed to the people of Tamil Nadu to vote for the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) coalition led by Chief Minister M.K. Stalin in the upcoming assembly elections on April 23. In a video message posted on the social media platform X, the Lok Sabha member from Hyderabad requested Tamil Nadu voters to cast their valuable votes in favor of the DMK alliance.
