Owaisi Addresses Rally in Gujarat

Asaduddin Owaisi, the leader of AIMIM, stated on Sunday that the Congress party shares responsibility for the 1947 partition, asserting that blaming Muslims for it is unjust. Speaking at a rally in Limbayat, Gujarat, he referenced Maulana Abul Kalam Azad's book 'India Wins Freedom', highlighting that Azad had appealed to Mahatma Gandhi and Jawaharlal Nehru to prevent the country's division.

Owaisi's Remarks on Partition Responsibility

Owaisi emphasized that Muslims should not be held accountable for the partition. He questioned whether the Congress party is not among those responsible for the division. In his book, Azad recounts his efforts to persuade Gandhi and Nehru against the partition. Owaisi also criticized Congress and the All India Trinamool Congress for labeling AIMIM as the BJP's 'B team' in West Bengal, defending his party's decision to contest 11 seats in the upcoming elections.

Election Dynamics in West Bengal

He addressed claims that his participation in elections benefits the BJP, pointing out that Congress is contesting all 294 seats, as is the TMC, while the Left Front is running in 250. Owaisi challenged his critics, urging them to focus on winning the remaining 270 seats instead of worrying about his 11. He questioned how long they would prevent the community from choosing its leadership.

AIMIM's Role in Challenging BJP

Owaisi portrayed AIMIM as a party capable of challenging the BJP within constitutional limits. He asserted that if anyone can confront the BJP and compel them to acknowledge their rights, it is AIMIM. He called for action to claim their rights. Earlier, at a rally in Asansol, he had targeted the TMC and West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, blaming them for the BJP's rise in the state.
