Over 7 Million Voter Names Removed from Gujarat's Draft Electoral Roll
Significant Changes in Voter Registration
Following the publication of the draft electoral roll under the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) by the Election Commission, more than 7 million voters have been removed from the list. Out of 5.8 million voters, 4.4 million had registered. A total of 50,963 Booth Level Officers (BLOs) conducted door-to-door surveys, distributing census forms and performing voter mapping and verification. Voters can submit objections and claims until January 18, 2026, with election officials set to resolve these by February 10, 2026. Previously, Gujarat had a total of 50,843,436 registered voters, but after the draft electoral roll was published, this number has decreased to 43,470,109. This indicates that 7,373,327 voters were removed during the SIR campaign.
