Jammu, July 28 - On Tuesday, a group of over 3,000 pilgrims set off from the Jammu base camp to visit the Amarnath Cave Temple, which is situated at an elevation of 3,880 meters in South Kashmir. This marks the 21st batch of devotees to embark on the journey, as confirmed by officials.

According to the authorities, more than 427,000 pilgrims have visited the Amarnath Cave so far. The latest group, consisting of 3,029 individuals, departed around 2:45 AM from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu, traveling in 151 vehicles towards Baltal. This group includes 2,310 men, 590 women, 14 children, 45 saints, 40 female saints, and 30 foreign devotees. With this departure, the total number of pilgrims who have left the Jammu base camp for the Amarnath pilgrimage has reached 130,355.

Officials noted that no pilgrims have departed via the Pahalgam route due to temporary travel restrictions caused by road repairs. The annual Amarnath pilgrimage, which lasts for 57 days, is scheduled to conclude on August 28. After being suspended for six days from July 19 to July 24 due to adverse weather warnings from the India Meteorological Department (IMD), the pilgrimage resumed on July 25.
