While the total number of electors in these states is approximately 11.49 crore, only about 9.78 crore have successfully located their names. The Election Commission's report highlights that a significant percentage of voters submitted their enumeration forms, yet many remain unaccounted for. The final electoral rolls are set to be published in February, raising questions about the integrity of the electoral process.

Significant Voter Discrepancy in Tamil Nadu and Gujarat


New Delhi: A staggering 1.71 crore voters have discovered that their names are absent from the draft electoral rolls released for Tamil Nadu and Gujarat during the special intensive revision process.


As of October 27, the total number of registered voters in these two states stood at 11.49 crore, with only 9.78 crore successfully locating their names in the draft electoral lists.


The Election Commission reported that in Tamil Nadu, which is preparing for assembly elections next year, 5.43 crore out of 6.41 crore electors, or 84.81%, completed their enumeration forms.


In Gujarat, 4.34 crore out of 5.08 crore electors, representing 85.50%, submitted their enumeration forms.


Additionally, the draft rolls for West Bengal, Rajasthan, Goa, Puducherry, and Lakshadweep were published on December 16, revealing that 12.32 crore electors found their names in the draft electoral lists for these regions.


The special intensive revision (SIR) exercise is being conducted across 12 states and Union Territories, with final electoral rolls expected to be published in February.
