On Thursday, the Ministry of External Affairs reported that as of July 16, 2024, approximately 1,563 Indian nationals have been deported from the United States.


During a weekly press briefing, MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal stated, "From January 20 of this year until yesterday, around 1,563 Indian nationals have been deported from the US, with the majority returning via commercial flights."



Regarding the ongoing discussions about a trade agreement between India and the US, Jaiswal mentioned, "This matter is currently under negotiation between both parties, and we will provide updates once a conclusion is reached."



In response to reports of an Indian tourist being arrested for alleged shoplifting in the US, the MEA spokesperson advised, "We consistently urge our citizens traveling abroad to adhere to local laws and regulations, thereby fostering a positive image of our country."
