Taking the matter seriously, municipal commissioner Lajpal Singh Sodha issued a notice to the contractor responsible for handling the animal remains, Goparam, son of Dudararam, a resident of Suwala village, Balasar police station, in Barmer district. The official notice stated that the contractor was awarded the contract for the collection of dead animals, hides, and bones within the Jaisalmer municipal limits through an open auction for the financial year 2025-26. It was noted that the contractor had been discarding the carcasses in the open, leading to environmental pollution and public protests. Although a designated pit for dead animals was established at the dumping yard, the contractor was found disposing of the remains elsewhere, violating regulations.

The contractor has been instructed to provide an explanation and has been warned against repeating such incidents.
