Opposition's March to Supreme Court Sparks Controversy: What Happened?
Opposition Leaders Protest Against Election Commission
New Delhi: Authorities have filed two FIRs at the Barakhamba Road and Tilak Marg police stations regarding the Opposition's recent march to the Supreme Court, targeting Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, as reported on Tuesday.
Law enforcement officials stated that the march lacked the necessary permissions, and multiple Opposition figures were reportedly seen breaching police barricades with the aid of a mini-truck during the demonstration held on Monday.
The event, dubbed the 'March for Democracy,' featured prominent leaders from the INDIA bloc, including Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha, Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav, and Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee. They gathered alongside activists and supporters to voice their concerns over alleged voter deletions and discrepancies in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls overseen by Kumar.
