Key Issues to be Addressed by Opposition

On July 19, Congress MP Pramod Tiwari announced that the opposition intends to highlight several significant issues during the forthcoming Monsoon session of Parliament. The alleged irregularities in the management of donations for the Ayodhya Ram Temple will be the foremost concern. Speaking to a news outlet, Tiwari accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of betraying Lord Ram, emphasizing that donation-related matters are a primary worry for the opposition.

He also mentioned controversies surrounding the NEET examination, allegations of paper leaks, land scams, and the blending of ethanol with petrol. Tiwari asserted that the BJP and its government have deceived Lord Ram, claiming they not only misappropriated donation funds but also robbed the faith of the people. Therefore, this issue will be prioritized in their discussions.

Tiwari further alleged that the mixing of ethanol in petrol is damaging vehicle engines and accused the government of benefiting certain individuals. He stated, 'This is a grand conspiracy to allow a select few to profit.' He reiterated that the BJP has betrayed Lord Ram and that this will be the first issue they raise.

Regarding the political strength of the ruling coalition, Tiwari insisted that the BJP or NDA government has never held a two-thirds majority, nor will they in the future.

Opposition's Walkout from All-Party Meeting

On the same day, opposition parties staged a symbolic walkout from an all-party meeting convened by the center ahead of the Monsoon session. This walkout was in protest against the invitation extended to the National Citizens Party of India (NCPI) by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju. They later rejoined the meeting, labeling the walkout as a symbol of protest.

The opposition accused the government of violating parliamentary rules by inviting the 'so-called NCPI,' arguing that the merger of rebel Trinamool Congress (TMC) MPs had not been approved by the Lok Sabha Speaker. Tiwari stated that the walkout was conducted to uphold the Constitution.
