Protest Against Alleged Embezzlement of Donations

On Friday, independent MP Pappu Yadav, along with other opposition leaders, organized a symbolic protest within the Parliament premises. They expressed their dissent by staging a mock theft of donations intended for the Ram Temple in Ayodhya. Prominent figures such as Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and former party chief Rahul Gandhi participated in this demonstration, which also condemned police actions against student protesters who marched to Parliament on July 20.

Dramatic Protest by Pappu Yadav

Rajesh Ranjan, known as Pappu Yadav, from Purnia, Bihar, donned the attire of a priest and sat in front of the 'Makar Dwar' of the Parliament with a donation box. As Rahul Gandhi and other leaders approached to contribute to the box, Yadav pretended to pocket the money, illustrating his claim that donations to the Ram Temple were being misappropriated. This act led to several opposition members surrounding him, chanting 'thief-thief' and 'donation thief'.

Calls for Accountability

Awdhesh Prasad, a Samajwadi Party MP from Faizabad (Ayodhya), remarked that the issue has become a topic of national discussion. He credited Akhilesh Yadav for initiating this struggle, emphasizing their responsibility to carry it forward as entrusted by the people of Ayodhya. He asserted that Ayodhya is the sacred land of Lord Ram, and any disrespect towards it will be addressed firmly. The opposition members also protested against police actions towards student demonstrators and demanded the resignation of Home Minister Amit Shah.
