Opposition's March to the Election Commission
On Monday, members of the opposition staged a protest against the Election Commission, marching from Makar Dwar at the Parliament to the Election Commission office located in the Vidhan Sabha. However, the Delhi police intervened by setting up barricades at the Transport Bhawan, halting their march. During the protest, several leaders, including Akhilesh Yadav, were seen jumping over the barricades, and videos of this incident have since gone viral on social media.

Members of the INDIA bloc aimed to express their dissent regarding the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, as well as allegations of "vote theft" ahead of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Despite their intentions, police detained several prominent figures, including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Sanjay Raut, and Sagarika Ghosh, who were protesting against the SIR and attempting to march to the Election Commission.

Rahul Gandhi remarked that the reality is they are unable to speak freely. He emphasized that this struggle is not merely political but a fight to protect the Constitution and uphold the principle of one person, one vote. He called for a clean voter list. Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra criticized the government, labeling it cowardly. Shashi Tharoor, another Congress MP, stated that the credibility of the Election Commission is at stake as long as doubts about the fairness of elections persist. He believes that addressing these concerns is in the Election Commission's best interest.
