On the inaugural day of the Monsoon session in Parliament, proceedings in the Rajya Sabha were adjourned until noon following a demand from opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge to discuss the alleged NEET paper leak and ongoing student protests. After the session commenced, Kharge sought permission to address the issue, emphasizing its significance for millions of students and referencing the protests by the 'Cockroach Public Party' (CJP) at Jantar Mantar in Delhi.
Kharge stated in the house, 'You have allowed me to speak on the NEET exam scandal and paper leak. This matter concerns students; I am talking about the future of millions of children. Thousands of students have gathered at Jantar Mantar. There has been police action against them. The government is attempting to control the situation through force, suppressing their voices and trying to disperse them.' Following his remarks, Rajya Sabha Chairman C.P. Radhakrishnan suspended the proceedings until noon. This adjournment occurred as the opposition demanded a discussion on alleged irregularities in the NEET exam and the student protests.
Meanwhile, shortly after convening for the Monsoon session, the Lok Sabha also adjourned until noon. Opposition members raised slogans demanding a debate on the NEET controversy and alleged irregularities in the Ram Temple donation case, leading to this decision. Several opposition leaders have called for government approval to discuss the allegations related to NEET.
