Opposition Critiques Government Over Pahalgam Terror Attack and Foreign Policy Failures
Opposition Voices Concerns in Lok Sabha
During a session in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday, several opposition members asserted that the terrorist attack in Pahalgam was a direct result of a complete failure in intelligence and security measures. They accused the government of evading questions and concealing the truth. While discussing the Pahalgam incident and Operation Sindoor, MPs from various opposition parties, including Congress, attempted to hold the government accountable, claiming that the foreign policy under Narendra Modi's administration has been a 'failure' as no major group, including G-20 and BRICS, condemned Pakistan following the attack.
On Wednesday, Congress claimed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has not clearly refuted U.S. President Donald Trump's assertions regarding a 'ceasefire' because he is in a weak position and has much to hide. The main opposition party criticized Modi for not addressing Trump's repeated claims about his role in de-escalating military tensions between India and Pakistan. Trump reiterated this claim while speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One on his return from Scotland.

Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh shared a video of Trump's recent comments on social media, stating that during the Lok Sabha session, the Prime Minister diverted attention from the main issue. Ramesh pointed out that Trump reiterated his claims afterward. He questioned why Modi refuses to clearly refute Trump's assertions made 30 times in the U.S., Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and the UK. The answer is evident: Modi is in a weak position and has much to conceal.
Pawan Khera, head of Congress's media and publicity department, remarked that Trump is coiling around Modi like a snake. He noted that Rahul Gandhi provided Modi with an excellent opportunity to extricate himself from this predicament by simply stating that Trump is lying about the 'ceasefire.' However, he added that Modi seems 'allergic' to accepting Gandhi's advice, and now the snake has returned, coiled tighter than before.
