Opposition Criticizes Modi Government Over Pakistan's Role in Ceasefire Talks
The Congress party has sharply criticized Prime Minister Narendra Modi's government following Pakistan's announcement of hosting U.S.-Iran talks after a ceasefire. They argue that this development exposes Modi's personal diplomacy and highlights his silence on critical issues, including Israel's actions. Congress leader Jairam Ramesh pointed out the implications of this situation on India's global standing and questioned the effectiveness of Modi's strategies in isolating Pakistan. The opposition's remarks reflect growing concerns over the Prime Minister's handling of international relations and domestic security issues.

Opposition's Response to Recent Developments
The opposition, including the Congress party, targeted the BJP-led central government on Wednesday. This criticism came shortly after Pakistan announced its role in hosting talks between the United States and Iran, following a two-week ceasefire agreement between the two nations. The Congress party described Pakistan's involvement as a significant blow to Prime Minister Narendra Modi's highly personal diplomacy, asserting that the self-proclaimed global leader has been thoroughly exposed.

The party emphasized that Modi's cowardice is evident not only in his silence regarding Israel's aggression but also in the unacceptable and shameful language used by his close friend in the White House. Congress General Secretary Jairam Ramesh stated that the global community will respond cautiously to the two-week ceasefire in the ongoing conflict between the U.S., Israel, and Iran.
Ramesh claimed that this conflict began on February 28 with targeted killings of top officials in Iran, occurring just two days after Modi's visit to Israel, which tarnished India's global reputation. He pointed out that the Prime Minister has not addressed the massacres in Gaza or Israel's expansionist actions in the occupied West Bank. Ramesh remarked that Pakistan's role in facilitating the ceasefire represents a serious blow to the essence and style of Modi's personal diplomacy.

He further noted that efforts to isolate Pakistan due to its ongoing support for terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir have not succeeded in portraying it as a failed nation on the global stage. He compared this situation to the actions taken by former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh following the Mumbai terrorist attacks. Ramesh added that a country grappling with economic crises and reliant on external support has managed to play such a role. The Congress leader questioned why Modi or his team have never explained the abrupt halt of Operation Sindoor on May 10, 2025, which was first announced by the U.S. Secretary of State and has since been credited to the U.S. President numerous times.
