TMC's Derek O'Brien Calls Out Government's Disruption

New Delhi, August 5 - Derek O'Brien, a member of the Rajya Sabha from the Trinamool Congress, attributed the disruption in parliamentary proceedings to the absence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, who has been missing from the sessions for 13 days. On Wednesday, O'Brien emphasized that opposition MPs have been consistently raising issues pertinent to the public.

He noted that he attempted to bring attention to the 75th anniversary of the Missionaries of Charity, founded by Mother Teresa, through national and state-level programs. In a post on the social media platform 'X', he stated, 'The central government is obstructing parliamentary proceedings as the Home Minister has been absent for 13 days.'

O'Brien further shared copies of his zero-hour notice and a starred question listed in Parliament, indicating his efforts to address the anniversary of the Missionaries of Charity and issues related to national highway projects in West Bengal. He wrote, 'My zero-hour notice regarding the 75 years of the Missionaries of Charity and the FCRA bill targeting such organizations.'

He highlighted that the Missionaries of Charity, established by Mother Teresa in Kolkata, has dedicated over seven decades to serving the poorest individuals, regardless of caste, creed, religion, or nationality, exemplifying the highest ideals of compassion, humanity, and selfless service. O'Brien remarked that this occasion serves as an opportunity to recognize the organization's contributions to social welfare and humanitarian service while raising public awareness and encouraging voluntary participation to support marginalized communities.

Additionally, O'Brien shared a starred question directed to the Minister of Road Transport and Highways, seeking information about national highway projects in West Bengal.
