Opposition Leaders Unite to Address Critical Concerns
New Delhi: On Monday, leaders from 25 opposition parties convened and resolved to send a letter to the Chief Justice of India regarding the SIR and allegations of electoral misconduct, while also calling for the immediate resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan amid the NEET-CBSE examination controversy.
During a press briefing following the INDIA bloc meeting, Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge emphasized the need for the Union government to organize an all-party discussion to address the alarming economic conditions, rising unemployment, inflation, and the challenges faced by farmers and marginalized communities.
Kharge noted that the opposition coalition plans to meet bi-monthly, with the next gathering scheduled for August in Hyderabad, although the exact date is yet to be determined.
All 25 participating parties shared their perspectives, reaching a consensus on five key issues.
The coalition agreed to draft a letter to the Chief Justice of India concerning the SIR, electoral fraud, and the integrity of elections, which will be submitted shortly, as stated by the Congress leader.
He was joined by prominent figures such as Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, Mamata Banerjee, and other senior members of the alliance.
The leaders unanimously called for the resignation of Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, citing his failure to protect the interests of countless youth who took the NEET and CBSE exams.
Kharge reiterated the necessity for an immediate all-party meeting to tackle pressing issues like the economic crisis, unemployment, inflation, and the plight of farmers, along with the injustices faced by disadvantaged groups.
The INDIA bloc leaders committed to maintaining regular coordination during the Monsoon session, with meetings held in the chamber of the Leader of the Opposition.
Kharge mentioned that all leaders expressed their opinions openly, while Uddhav Thackeray from Shiv Sena-UBT and Hemant Soren from JMM participated in the meeting virtually.
