India's Military Operation Targets Terror Camps

New Delhi: In a significant military initiative, India's armed forces executed deep strikes reaching up to 100 kilometers into Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), successfully targeting and dismantling several terror camps in an operation dubbed Operation Sindoor.

The strikes were a direct response to the tragic Pahalgam terror attack on April 22, which resulted in the deaths of 26 individuals, including 25 tourists and a local resident.

During a press briefing, key officials including Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh provided insights into the operation, confirming the neutralization of nine terrorist camps as part of the mission, which involved collaboration among the Army, Air Force, and Navy.

Foreign Secretary Misri began the conference by recalling the devastating Pahalgam attack, labeling it one of the most lethal assaults on civilians since the 2008 Mumbai attacks.

He stated, “The terrorists, trained in Pakistan and linked to Lashkar-e-Toiba, executed their victims at close range, inflicting trauma on families and intentionally instilling fear. This was a blatant attempt to disrupt the increasing normalcy and tourism in Jammu and Kashmir.”

Targeting Key Terror Infrastructure

Colonel Sofiya Qureshi detailed the objectives and scope of Operation Sindoor, revealing that the armed forces pinpointed and struck terror infrastructure in locations such as Muzaffarabad, Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, and Kotli, which have historically been operational bases for banned groups like Lashkar-e-Toiba and Jaish-e-Mohammed.

Among the significant targets were the headquarters of notorious terrorists Hafiz Saeed in Muridke and Masood Azhar in Bahawalpur.

“These were not merely symbolic targets,” Colonel Qureshi emphasized. “They represented the core of Pakistan’s state-sponsored terror apparatus. We had reliable intelligence confirming the existence of launch pads, training facilities, and weapon stockpiles. The strikes were executed with precision to avoid civilian casualties.”

Wing Commander Vyomika Singh added that aerial surveillance, satellite imagery, and human intelligence were utilized to confirm the targets.

“The operation was conducted at night with seamless coordination between air and ground units. It was a multi-theatre, high-risk mission that demonstrates our commitment to safeguarding Indian lives,” she stated.

A Strong Message to Terror Sponsors

India has consistently accused Pakistan of harboring and supporting terrorism. Vikram Misri reiterated that the Resistance Front (TRF), a proxy of Lashkar-e-Toiba, had claimed responsibility for the Pahalgam attack, and noted that India had already presented a dossier on TRF’s activities to the United Nations.

“Pakistan’s ongoing denial of involvement is indefensible,” Misri asserted. “There has been no action taken against the masterminds behind previous attacks, from Pulwama to 26/11. With Operation Sindoor, we have conveyed a clear message: India will respond decisively when its citizens are targeted.”

He cited the case of Sajid Mir, who was previously reported dead by Pakistan but later found to be alive, as an example of the duplicity in shielding terrorists. The Indian government has called on the international community to recognize Pakistan’s persistent use of terrorism as a strategic tool.

A Calculated and Firm Response

Operation Sindoor signifies a notable escalation in India’s defense strategy, indicating a shift towards preemptive and punitive measures against terror networks.

All nine targets were eliminated with surgical precision, ensuring no collateral damage, which highlights India’s advancing military and intelligence capabilities.

“This mission was not solely about retribution,” Colonel Qureshi remarked, “but about preventing future attacks of this nature.”
