Significant Arrests in Uttarakhand's Operation Kalnemi

In Uttarakhand, a crackdown on illegal activities disguised as religious practices has led to the arrest of 511 individuals, including 19 Bangladeshis, under Operation Kalnemi. This information was disclosed in a government release on Friday.


According to the official statement, the operation, which commenced on July 10 of this year, has involved the verification of over 4,802 individuals across the districts of Haridwar, Dehradun, and Udham Singh Nagar, resulting in the arrests.


Among those apprehended, 19 Bangladeshis were found to be residing illegally; 10 have already been repatriated to Bangladesh, while actions against the remaining nine are ongoing.


Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized that this initiative is not aimed at any particular community but is focused on upholding law and order and preserving the sanctity of the region. He clarified that while faith will be respected, any form of crime, deceit, or hypocrisy will not be tolerated under any circumstances.


Furthermore, the Chief Minister instructed officials to maintain vigilant oversight of such activities and ensure stringent actions against those undermining the state's integrity.
