Ongoing Terrorism Threats from Pakistan: Insights into Active Camps and Infiltration

Current Status of Terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir
New Delhi, June 12: Despite Indian military operations targeting several terrorist camps in Pakistan following the Pahalgam attack, numerous terror camps and launch pads remain operational in both Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
According to official sources, there are currently 12 active terror training facilities in Pakistan, where recruits receive training in advanced weaponry and religious indoctrination.
Additionally, 141 launch pads are operational in PoK and Pakistan, facilitating cross-border infiltration into India. The Pakistan army frequently engages in cross-border firing and targeted actions against Indian forces stationed along the border to aid the infiltration of terrorists. Although security forces maintain a heightened state of alert along the international border and have thwarted several infiltration attempts, the challenging terrain makes it impossible to monitor every inch of the border continuously. This situation allows terrorists to exploit vulnerabilities and enter India, as per the sources.
The sources further indicated that Pakistan actively supports terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir by providing recruitment assistance, training, infiltration support, and supplying weapons and funds to various terror groups.
Since the rise of Pakistan-sponsored terrorism in Jammu and Kashmir in 1988, there have been 63,110 recorded incidents of terror violence, with 31,791 incidents targeting security personnel and 19,452 affecting civilians.
These terrorist activities have led to significant loss of life, with 47,841 fatalities reported, including 16,199 civilians, 6,270 security personnel, and 25,372 terrorists.
At one time, around 30 different terrorist organizations were backed by Pakistan to operate in Jammu and Kashmir. Currently, notable groups include Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), Hizbul Mujahideen, Muslim Jaanbaz Force, Al Badr, and Al Barq.
To mask their activities and evade international scrutiny, these groups have adopted names like The Resistance Front (TRF), associated with LeT, and People’s Anti-Fascist Front (PAFF), linked to JeM. They also maintain a presence on various social media platforms, engaging in online indoctrination and targeting youth to enhance recruitment efforts.
