The public sector enterprise Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) has successfully regained control of the Mori-5 oil well located in Andhra Pradesh. The company announced on Saturday that the well was successfully sealed in a record time of just five days.


The blowout incident at the Mori-5 well occurred on January 5, 2026, while routine maintenance was being conducted by the contractor Deep Industries Limited. During this incident, oil and gas began to escape uncontrollably.


In response, ONGC promptly activated its emergency management plan, halting all related operations in the area and deploying specialized teams and equipment to manage the situation.
