Voter List Matching Progress in Odisha

The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Odisha, R.S. Gopalan, announced that nearly 90% of the state's voters have been matched with the 2002 electoral roll. During a press briefing on Friday, he expressed optimism that the matching process would be completed within the next 15 days, aiming for at least a 95% match rate.

Gopalan revealed that a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list is set to commence on April 1. He stated, 'The SIR process will begin on April 1.'

Currently, efforts are underway to locate the remaining 10% of voters whose details have not yet been matched. Citizens have been urged to provide information regarding their status in the 2002 voter list. The last comprehensive revision of the voter list in the state took place two decades ago. According to the directives from the Election Commission, the 2002 voter list will serve as the basis for matching with the 2025 voter list.

He further explained that during the matching process, details such as the voter's name, close relatives, age/date of birth, polling station, ward number, and EPIC details will be verified. Booth-level officials will assist on the ground, and voters can check their details through the ECI-NET portal, the Voter Service Portal, the CEO Odisha website, and the ECI-NET mobile app. Citizens are encouraged to verify their names in both the 2025 and 2002 voter lists and provide relevant details to booth-level officials.

Gopalan added that if a name is not found in the 2002 voter list, individuals can register it by providing their father's or mother's details. If those names are also absent, they can use their grandparents' information for registration. He clarified that no documents or Aadhaar cards are required for this matching process, and names will be registered according to the established procedure once the SIR begins.
