Oath Ceremony of Odisha's Rajya Sabha Members


New Delhi: On Monday, the newly elected members of the Rajya Sabha from Odisha took their oaths in their native language, Odia, during a ceremony in the Upper House.


The three representatives from Odisha who participated in the oath-taking are Manmohan Samal, Santrupta Mishra, and Dilip Kumar Ray, who ran as an Independent candidate with BJP support.


The oath was administered by Vice President and Rajya Sabha Chairman C. P. Radhakrishnan.


Notably, Sujeet Kumar was absent from the ceremony, and the reasons for his non-attendance remain unclear.


The elections for four Rajya Sabha seats from Odisha took place on March 16, 2026. In this election, BJP state president Manmohan Samal and Sujit Kumar secured their positions on BJP tickets, while Dilip Kumar Ray was elected as an Independent candidate backed by the party. Santrupta Mishra won the seat representing the Biju Janata Dal.
