Healthcare Access in Nabarangpur

Bhubaneswar: In a significant move to enhance healthcare access for residents of the remote Nabarangpur district, the Odisha government has dispatched a team of doctors from SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack for a four-day health camp.

This initiative, part of the 'Mukhya Mantri Bayu Swasthya Seva' program, has attracted around 1,000 patients seeking specialized medical care, including surgical procedures, according to officials.

Sukant Satpathy, the Additional Chief District Medical Officer (ADMO) of Nabarangpur, expressed the community's excitement, noting that residents no longer need to travel to larger cities for essential medical treatments.

He mentioned, "Approximately 1,000 individuals have signed up for advanced medical services, including various surgeries," highlighting the reach of modern medical practices.

The camp offers access to specialists in fields such as urology, nephrology, cardiology, neurology, endocrinology, and gastroenterology, along with diagnostic services like echocardiograms and endoscopies.

According to a statement from the Chief Medical Officer (CMO), similar health camps are planned for Nuapada and Malkangiri districts in the near future.

On the inaugural day, five senior resident doctors conducted patient examinations and prepared them for upcoming surgeries and procedures.

The following day, a team of six senior doctors is scheduled to perform surgeries, provide consultations across various super-specialties, and dispense medications, all at no cost to the patients.
