A New Chapter for Odisha's Public Service

Bhubaneswar: On Sunday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi presented appointment letters to 1,101 newly appointed officials across four government departments, emphasizing the importance of integrity in their roles.

During his speech, Majhi highlighted that securing a government position transcends mere employment; it is a chance to contribute positively to society and the state.

He expressed confidence that the skills and commitment of these new officers would play a crucial role in realizing the government's aspirations for a 'Prosperous Odisha by 2036' and a 'Viksit Bharat' by 2047.

Since the current administration took office just over two years ago, a total of 46,575 young individuals have been recruited through 17 job fairs.

The latest appointments include 814 medical officers and 92 assistant professors in the Health and Family Welfare Department, along with 30 Odisha Administrative Service (OAS) officers, 42 Odisha Revenue Service (ORS) officers, 46 Odisha Finance Service (OFS) officers, 60 Odisha Taxation and Accounts Service (OTAS) officers, and 17 Cooperative Service officers.

Majhi urged the newly appointed medical professionals to treat the state's 4.5 crore residents with the same care they would their own families.

He referred to OAS and ORS officers as the backbone of the state's administration, asserting that effective revenue management and tax collection by OFS and OTAS officers would bolster Odisha's economy.

The Chief Minister encouraged cooperative officers to align with Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision of 'Samavaya se Samruddhi' by broadening the cooperative sector's reach beyond just credit services to include farmers, women, and rural entrepreneurs.

Majhi cautioned that corruption could jeopardize an officer's career, stating that the Vigilance Department has been empowered to enforce a strict 'zero-tolerance' stance on corruption.

He also called on the officers to uphold the dignity of their positions, prioritize public grievances, and ensure swift resolutions to complaints.

The event also featured remarks from Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with ministers Suresh Pujari and Mukesh Mahaling.
