Odisha's Chief Minister Promises 1.5 Lakh Jobs: A Year in Office and Counting!
Commitment to Job Creation in Odisha
Bhubaneswar: Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi reaffirmed his administration's dedication to creating 1.5 lakh government jobs over the next five years. In the past year alone, 27,428 young individuals have secured positions.
Majhi, who is the first BJP chief minister of the state, is approaching his one-year anniversary in office on June 12.
He stated, "We pledged to provide 1.5 lakh government jobs from 2024 to 2029. In just one year, we have appointed 27,428 individuals, with a goal of reaching 65,000 by the end of our second year in power."
During a recent event, he distributed appointment letters to 1,294 youths across seven departments.
The Chief Minister also highlighted that the state has initiated plans to create 90,000 jobs in the private sector through industrial development, with expectations for further job growth in the near future.
Majhi, who comes from a grassroots background, expressed his understanding of the challenges faced by citizens and his commitment to enhancing employment opportunities.
He announced an increase in the minimum age limit for government jobs from 32 to 42 years, acknowledging that many were overlooked during the previous 24 years of BJD governance.
He emphasized the importance of recruitment in the health and education sectors, which directly impact the populace, sharing a personal anecdote about overcrowded classrooms in Keonjhar district during the BJD's tenure.
The Chief Minister urged the new recruits to serve the community with dedication and warned against corruption.
He also encouraged them to care for their elderly parents and families.
Majhi remarked, "While many students aspire to become doctors or engineers, we need more talented individuals to enter politics. Although some of our colleagues have backgrounds in research, medicine, and engineering, it is not enough. We need a greater influx of capable students into politics," admitting that he ventured into politics after struggling to find a suitable government job.
The event was attended by Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida, along with several other ministers, as the CM presented appointment letters to 30 officers representing 30 districts.
