Groundbreaking Ceremony for Industrial Projects


Bhubaneswar: On Thursday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi inaugurated the groundbreaking ceremony for 12 significant industrial and infrastructure initiatives, collectively valued at ₹28,084 crore.


These initiatives are expected to generate approximately 15,455 job opportunities.


The projects are strategically located in Tata SEZ at Gopalpur, as well as in the Chatrapur, Buguda, and Barapalli regions, aligning with the state's ambition to cultivate a diverse and sustainable industrial ecosystem in the Ganjam area.


During the event, Majhi emphasized that these projects will not only create jobs but also enhance local communities through improved infrastructure, innovation, and new opportunities.


He stated, "On World Environment Day, we reaffirm our commitment to sustainable, eco-friendly development. Following Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vision for a developed India, Odisha's double-engine government is dedicated to inclusive growth through industry, healthcare, and skill development."


Majhi also noted that since the 'Utkarsh Odisha-Make in Odisha' conclave held in January, projects worth ₹1.5 lakh crore have been initiated within just five months, resulting in the creation of 90,000 jobs.


He highlighted Gopalpur Port's emerging role as a vital gateway.


Manikanta Naik, Managing Director of Tata Steel SEZ Limited, remarked, "The groundbreaking of these projects signifies a pivotal moment in the development of Gopalpur Industrial Park (GIP). It underscores the favorable industrial environment cultivated at GIP, aimed at promoting innovation and long-term investments. The collaborative efforts of our team, robust industry partnerships, and ongoing government support have been crucial in achieving this milestone."


In the green hydrogen and ammonia sector, Ocior Energy Private Limited has initiated a ₹7,200-crore project at Tata Steel SEZ, which is set to create 2,300 jobs. Additionally, HHP Five Private Limited is investing ₹4,000 crore, generating 1,595 employment opportunities, according to an official statement.


Petronet LNG Limited has also commenced work on a proposed ₹6,500 crore LNG terminal in Gopalpur, which will bolster regional energy infrastructure and create 1,000 jobs.


In the specialty chemicals sector, UPL Limited is establishing a ₹4,000 crore facility at Tata Steel SEZ, projected to employ 4,100 individuals.


The green energy equipment sector is set to benefit from Saatvik Solar Industries Private Limited's ₹3,500 crore investment, which will create 3,225 jobs, and World Green Energy Private Limited's ₹2,500 crore investment, generating 2,500 jobs.


In logistics, Geo Impex and Logistics Private Limited is developing a multi-modal logistics park in Chatrapur with an investment of ₹207 crore, expected to create 350 jobs.


Tarangini Distilleries Private Limited is leading agro-processing with a ₹149 crore bio-ethanol project in Buguda, providing 205 job opportunities, while Odisha Monolithic is investing ₹4 crore in refractory materials at Chatrapur, adding 50 jobs.


In eco-tourism, Crochet Industries Private Limited is investing ₹18 crore in an eco-resort in Gopalpur, which will generate 80 jobs. JSR Greenex and Linox Ortho Surgical Private Limited are also contributing to the e-waste and medical device sectors with smaller yet impactful units at Barapalli, collectively investing ₹5.5 crore and creating 50 jobs.


Furthermore, two major infrastructure projects – Tata Steel Industrial Park (₹200 crore) and IDCO's utility corridor and industrial estate development (₹229 crore) – are set to establish a foundation for sustained industrial growth in the region.
