Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has directed authorities to enhance security for Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati. This decision comes during a meeting focused on the development of the Govardhan Peeth. The Chief Minister urged trust board members to propose development ideas to the state government. Additionally, the Odisha government plans to rehabilitate 19 monasteries that were previously demolished during a heritage corridor project. This initiative highlights the government's commitment to both security and cultural preservation in the region.

Strengthening Security for Spiritual Leaders


Puri: On Friday, Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the need to bolster security measures for Puri Shankaracharya Swami Nischalananda Saraswati and his seat, ‘Govardhan Peeth’, located in the sacred city.


During a meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan focused on the development of ‘Govardhan Peeth’, Majhi instructed officials to enhance protective measures.


According to a senior police official, Saraswati, who is already under ‘Z’ category security, will receive additional protection following the meeting.


The gathering included notable figures such as Law Minister Prithiviraj Harichandan, Puri MP Sambit Patra, and Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, who discussed the preservation and development of the structures at ‘Govardhan Peeth’.


Majhi also encouraged members of the ‘Govardhan Peeth’ trust board to present their development proposals to the state government.


In a related announcement, Harichandan informed the media that the Odisha government plans to rehabilitate 19 monasteries that were demolished during the previous BJD government's ‘Srimandir Parikrama’ heritage corridor project.
